Product Description

A customer orders a coffee and something sweet, and both should arrive in one hand. This drink carrier is cut from a single blank: a cup platform with a circular aperture at one end, an open dessert well at the other, and an arched flap at the back that stands up by itself. The cup drops into the aperture and is held around its body, so it does not tip while the box swings; the dessert sits in its own walled well, clear of condensation. The back flap is a printed panel, which is what turns a plain paper cup holder into something a shop is pleased to hand across the counter. Brands run the same die as dessert boxes, treat boxes or pastry boxes with the print changed between runs. It folds flat, assembles in seconds, and takes custom CMYK or PMS artwork. MOQ is 10,000 pcs.

One Hand, Coffee and Something Sweet

The reason this box exists is the walk from the counter to the table. A cup in one hand and a bag in the other is two things to balance, and the bag always ends up crushed against the cup. Here both travel in the same footprint: the cup sits in its aperture at one end, the dessert sits in its well at the other, and the pack is carried level by the two long side walls. Because the weight spreads across the base instead of hanging from a handle, the pack stays steady at walking pace. That is the practical case for a drink carrier with a food well built in.

Where the Cup Sits, and Why It Does Not Tip

The aperture is the whole mechanism. It is a circle cut to the cup's body diameter and positioned over a support panel that sets how deep the cup sits. The platform grips the cup around its full circumference and the panel below takes the weight, so the cup is held at two heights at once, which is what stops it rocking. A cup that only rests on a flat base tips at the first corner; a cup held in a ring at a single height still leans. The rim stays clear of the platform, so a lid can be pressed on after loading. It is a paper cup holder in the literal sense: paper doing the holding.

The Back Panel Does the Selling

Most takeaway packs are read from above, which is why the branding ends up on a lid nobody photographs. This box puts the brand on a vertical panel instead: an arched flap at the rear that stands above the rim and faces the customer as the box is carried. It is printed on both sides, so it works as a counter sign before the sale and as a photograph after it. Menus, QR codes and seasonal artwork all sit on a flat surface with no fold running through the middle. For a shop running dessert boxes as a signature item, that panel is the cheapest advertising in the pack.

Sizing the Well to What You Serve

Both halves are sized from the menu, not from a catalogue. The aperture follows the cup you actually serve, and the well follows what goes beside it: a shallow well for a few cookies, a deeper one for a stack of pastries or a portion of fried dough. Most shops settle on two sizes, a single-cup box for a drink and a snack, and a longer one for a drink plus a sharing portion. Give us the cup diameter, the item height and the piece count, and we will size the well and the support depth around it. The same die then runs treat boxes and pastry boxes with the print switched.

Product FAQs

Q1: Does the box stay rigid when it is carried full?

It does, because the rigidity comes from the folded walls rather than from the board alone. The two long side walls lock into the base and into the end walls, so the blank becomes a closed box section that resists twisting. The cup platform is a separate horizontal panel scored from the same sheet, and it braces the box across the middle at exactly the point where a full pack would otherwise bow. A cup plus a full well is a lopsided load, and that brace is what keeps the two ends level. Keep the base tabs fully seated when assembling; a half-locked tab is the only thing that softens the structure.

Q2: Can the food well hold greasy items without marking the print?

Yes, with the right coating. The well is printed on the outside of the board, and grease reaches the print by wicking through from the food side, so the barrier belongs on the inside. A grease-resistant coating on the food side stops oil before it reaches the fibre, and the print on the outside stays sharp through a normal service day. For very oily items, such as fried dough or anything with a butter glaze, ask for a heavier coating rather than a heavier board, because weight does not stop wicking. Tell us what goes in the well and how long it sits, and we will match the coating on our own test line.

Q3: How should I store the blanks before a busy service?

Flat, dry and stacked no more than a metre high, with the printed side facing up. The blanks are scored rather than pre-assembled, so they take very little back-of-house space, but a stack that sits under something heavy will take a set along the score lines and the box will not square up cleanly afterwards. Keep them away from the dish pit and from anywhere steam collects, because moisture softens the board and the base tabs stop locking firmly. In a busy shop, break the bundle the day before rather than during service, so the board has time to relax into shape.

Q4: Can the back panel carry a different design on each side?

Yes. The flap is printed as part of the same sheet, so the front and the back are separate artwork areas with no extra tooling. That is useful when the two sides face different audiences: the outer face can carry the brand mark a passer-by sees, while the inner face can carry a menu, an allergen note or a seasonal message the customer reads once the box is in their hands. Both sides run in the same CMYK or PMS pass, so there is no second print and no extra cost. Send both artworks at the sampling stage and we will proof them together.
